SILENT NIGHT

It’s not “Merry”, it’s not “Bright”, one less gift to wrap, one less stocking to hang; It’s just another lonely, Silent Night.  They said it would get easier, the ache would fade and fond memories I would embrace. It’s not true!  The only gift I long for at Christmas and every day is your Laugh, your Love, and You.  Nonetheless I will put on my smile, get dressed, go visit friends and stay awhile.  I’ve perfected my “act” of distraction with grace, to smile and laugh with others, if only some of my pain it would erase!  I know Christmas is the celebration of our dear Savior’s birth; and you’re with Him healthy and happy in Heaven, but it hurts like Hell here on Earth!  Though the holidays won’t be “Happy”, and there will be no “Merry and Bright”, I will choose to trust in God’s Promise that one day He will make ALL things right!  He will wipe every tear from my face, and death will be no more.  No sickness, No “goodbyes”, No sorrow; just you and I with Jesus forevermore! But . . . for now it’s just another Silent Night, and all is not calm and all is not bright.
